This course combines the fundamental and basic skills necessary for combat marksmanship with the tactical knowledge required to survive with a shotgun in a hostile environment. This is the second course of Tactical Firearms Academy’s shotgun courses. Prerequisite “Learning the Shotgun” or “Shotgun Fundamentals” course is required, prior to taking this class.  Emphasis is placed on the basic shooting skills and developing tactical applications for those skills.

Topics covered are:

  • Safety- Administrative, range and operation carry
  • Nomenclature
  • Proper Loading Techniques
  • Stance & Mount
  • Patterning at 3,7,10,15,20,25 yds.
  • Target acquisition (single and multiple threats)
  • Ready positions
  • Transition to handgun
  • Shooting on the move
  • CSTC qualification (Criminal Justice Standard &
    Training Commission Shotgun qualifier)

The course consists of nine hours of live fire training on an outdoor range.

The following rounds are required for this class, however you may want to bring extra.

300 Rounds #6 – #7.5 Birdshot
30 Rounds 00 Buckshot
15 Rounds Slug

A pistol with a holster and mag pouch(s) is also required for the class.
